Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/20/2021

Number: 2

Photo is of monarch resting on a Crepe Myrtle after defending its territory from Monarch #2 (not pictured).

Gregg’s Blue Must are now fully in bloom. A. Asperula have been fully grazed and are now leafless. A. Curassavica are relatively untouched.

A. Oenotheroides (2 plants) has been in the ground only 4 weeks and is untouched.

I intend to prepare a valid test bed of native and non-native milkweeds to compare utilization as a host for eggs and maturation into larvae for next Spring. I’m seeing more differentiation than I expected between native and non-native milkweed for me not to investigate the reasons.
