I observed 15+ monarchs today in brief outings. It was a blowy, balmy, cloudy day in the high 70's. I saw monarchs sailing around, nectaring, resting/sunning, and gently air-tussling at times. This is a photo of one of the male monarchs nectaring from a yellow thistle. He has tattery wings, but flew quite zestfully.
