As I was leaving from a volunteer shift at the Virginia Living Museum [aka Monarch Waystation #299], I passed a bed of common milkweeds in the traffic circle and briefly watched a wing-tattered, faded female monarch flying low. This was MY first monarch sighting. She landed on a few milkweeds to investigate, bask briefly, then to another. I saw her lay one egg, then fly off. At the time I had nothing to take a photo with, I had just dropped off something for someone and was heading to the car with only my keys. Still an "egg-citing" find!
