Monarch Waystation #271 reports more notes on the "energizer bunny" faded female monarch laying eggs on both front and back bed milkweeds starting at noon time for about 40 minutes of observation. Photo is of her in the back yard, caught maneuvering around some daffodil leaves. Temps in the 80s, sunny, intermittent breezes. She added many eggs to the initial 34 I found on the front bed milkweeds before she showed up. All eggs were fresh, deposited on all 5 milkweed species available [common, purple, swamp, tropical milkweed and butterflyweed] front and back. She would pause and land on ANY plants that grew opposite leaves on a stem, frequently checking Culver's Root, as well as every milkweed. Her strong flight pattern could be described as "frantic," "spastic," "animated," maybe even "desperate." Did not see her stop to rest or nectar in my yard despite flowers being available. However, I was planting and weeding at the time and could have missed brief stops. She was out of sight for 15-30 seconds at a time while flying around the nearby yards. Never slowed down, I could only catch 3 images. This female was the most active and "mission dedicated" butterfly I've ever seen in this Waystation since it was registered in 2005.
