Today 5 indoor-reared monarchs were born and released in the late afternoon. There were 2 males and 3 females. They had been brought in from our meadows as large caterpillars: 4 5th instars, 1 4th instar. All of them were healthy and flew wonderfully. This is a photo of them getting acclimated to the outside. They were all beautiful and eager to be off!
