First monarch of the season I have seen. A female that laid eggs on my common milkweed and butterfly weed. She was not interested in the lantana that was very close by. This is the 4th year that my milkweed has come up and some of the shoots were only 1-2 inches tall that she laid eggs on. The milkweed that is closer to my house is ~12 inches tall and she laid eggs on that as well. This is the first year that I have ever had monarch eggs this early. I typically see them in early June.
