Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 05/02/2021

Number: 12

Today, rescued 12 caterpillars from preying wasps, who had already made off with others we were watching. We raised 9 Monarchs in captivity last year, and hope to help again this year to get them safely through to the butterfly stage before releasing them once their wings dry. (We can't figure out how to get the wasps to stop taking the larva!) Over the past 2 years in our garden, no larva have ever made it through to metamorphasis without our intervention / protection from wasps.
