This is a follow-up photo to my Monarch Larva Sighted report. Here is a close-up of the monarch caterpillar tightly attached to the top of a sturdy milkweed plant, while the grasses around were flattened by the overflowing stream. He must have had quite a night with floodwaters from the stream flowing past him and pouring rain from the thunderstorms. Glad for this hardy milkweed!
