Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 05/02/2021

Number: 2

Today I released two newborn monarchs that had been reared indoors. Both were from caterpillars brought in from our pastures. One was a male who had actually eclosed yesterday, but due to rain I delayed his release till this morning. He was healthy and flew happily up & away to a tree. The other was a female born this morning and released later in the day. This is her photo before being released. She was beautiful and very active ~ ready to go and flew wonderfully. That's why I just have this pre-flight photo. Always wish they would pause for a moment or two!
