Sightings report image

Date: 05/04/2021

Number: 6

Our second day after our initial first Ruby-throated hummingbird sighing and reporting. After reviewing todays photos I was able to capture of hummers visiting our five feeders, I was able to determine we had six different hummers visit the feeders. Three were adult males and three were adult females. Most appear to possibly our residents as they were flying in all four directions after leaving the feeders and were seen several more times almost hourly throughout the day. The temperature only hit 57 degrees for a high, with winds out of the west/ northwest at about 6 to 8 mph. The day was partly cloudy with occasional light sprinkle toward evening. Temperature is expected to be a low of 41 degrees tonight and extended 5 day high temps to be only in the mid 50 degree range and extended 5 day forecast of lows being near mid 30 degrees, so feeders will be swapped out daily with warm feeders until temps return to at least the mid 40 degree range. Currently the only nectar sources in bloom around our residence is our several crabapple trees and what hanging baskets of petunias and geraniums we have on the patio. However, we have seen many very small insects and spiders around our residence.
