Circling Mississippi Kite caught a glint of sun on his side as he arrived with one companion. Usually they come in a group, so I suspect this particular Kite is the one that overwintered here a couple years back, all because his daddy fed his first mate monarch butterflies and then was a bachelor until very late in the season, resulting in this one oddball offspring that just doesn't follow the usual migration rules.
