Sightings report image

Date: 05/06/2021

Number: 1

Dear Madam or Sir:

I hope you are well. In the past seven years, we have seen Black-chinned, Ruby-throated, and [once] a Rufous Hummingbird species. In 2021, our Ruby-throated Hummingbird arrived on:

Date: May 6, 2021
Time: 07:20 AM CDT
Temperature: 50ºF, (10ºC)
Humidity: 89%
Wind Speed: South 3 mph
Dewpoint: 47ºF, (8ºC)
Visibility:10 mi.
Barometer: 30.24 in., (1023.8 mb.)

We started putting the feeder out for Hummingbirds the first week of March 2021. Also, it is worth noting the only noticeable flowering plant(s) within a few hundred feet of our feeder are the major wheeler honeysuckle and red perennial salvia. Interestingly, we live in USDA Planting Zone 7; however, we had -10ºF, (-23ºC) temperatures in February 2021, reflective of USDA Planting Zone 5.
