Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/11/2021

Number: 1

1341 EDT, 48°F, Lone male ruby-throated hummer arrived at feeder and drank for a few moments without landing before departing, then returned forty-one minutes later and drank and perched for about half a minute before departing again.

This is only the second day with a hummer observed this season, a full five days without any observations after the first of the season in as many chilly and gusty days (if only one, during the eight hours of sightings at the feeder on May 5th). The first was a different individual likely just passing through before heading further north, as may be this one today. Neither appear to be the dominant resident male from last season.

What a joy it is to see these mighty travelers returning!
