Signs of Spring

Date: 05/16/2021

Number: 1

I believe that I saw a barn swallow. According to BIRDNET, I most likely heard one or some. There are good nesting sites for them here. I may have confused a barn swallow for a tree swallow as I reported the other day. I've seen Tree Swallows every year for the past 21 years. If there are Barn Swallows, these will be the first I've seen here.

Since the bats, who lived in the barn, we're killed, there has been an overabundance of insects, which has had me longing for the Barn Swallows and their voracious appetite for little flying critters. Would be terrific to get the balance of nature back closer to "normal".
