My husband was out checking fences on our farm, not too far from where we have a small patch of milkweed growing near the fence line - they are about 2-3 foot tall now - when he saw the first Monarch of the season fluttering around the tall grass in the pasture. He wasn't close enough to it to tell whether it was a male or female.
