Earliest ever sighting! In one of the day's sunny periods between showers, about noon, saw a monarch exploring my native plant "yarden." It wings were bright orange, but did not settle on anything (though my swamp milkweeds are quite noticeable as they're at least a foot tall. Seemed more interested in surveying the nectar flowers (maybe for a female?). After circling the yard a couple of times, flew off without me being able to ID my visitor as male or female.
