Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/20/2021

Number: 1

1 for sure maybe 2 different birds. The hummies were late this year (cold). This time last year there were 3-4 throughout each day for far past august. 3 feeders hang outside my bedroom window, with a huge window box containing bright red and orange fake flowers. The sugar nectar is fresh, no mold, no ants (boil water first and try to change every 8-9 days; feeders in shade). I'm concerned. Just planted butterfly bush seeds and the 40 morning glory seeds are only 3" high. Natural water sources in big yard with small undisturbed forest and flower farm CENTER FOR DISCOVERY adjacent to that. There's also lilac bush and azaleas in full bloom and tons of gnats, flies, and other insects along with bee boxes. I'm concerned. This is the perfect habitat, both natural and human supported for many animals; many live here and others visit, unafraid (black bear twice, deer daily, 10 species birds, rabbits, chickens, snakes, hawks, stray cats, hv heard foxes, an owl tonight! But the hummers - What's up? We are anticipating the big Cicada invasion arriving soon.
