Lone butterfly passed quickly through our yard and continued in northern direction towards a dry and hailed out pasture. Next stop would be the city of Portales, NM.
It was seen right at 5pm and 94F. 15-25 SSW and dry.

This is only the 2nd monarch seen this spring. Extremely drought conditions here. No sign of milkweed in pastures or along roadsides locally as would be seen normally.
