i released 11 captive reared monarchs today and have 7 more to go tomorrow.45 chrysalis indoors and 10 outside in the wild that i can find.i have seen about 8 outside that did not make it past j hook stage i believe it to be due to the tachnid fly on a couple and unknown on the others. all captive reared were brought in as eggs and all appeared perfect at release. a few eggs did not hatch and a few caterpillars failed to thrive with no obvious clues as to why.
