Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 05/28/2021

Number: 1

Rubythroats are still coming thru here and will until last day of May. Houston experts have always relayed last spring migration time is end of May for Texas.
I see them flying into trees or briefly come to flowers then zip out like yesterday and today. Females have not been abundant this year for me, or seen as much as males. This years 10 day gulf coast spring tropical rain disturbance has taken effect on migration. We just got a scout purple Martin yesterday way late this year because of.

Observed by: Marjori, why seeing fewer hummingbirds. Doing so in my report so others can figure.

In my knowledge Journey north is the largest hummingbird website to watch hummingbird reports. You can check into your state's wild life website to see if there are more hummingbird reports.

As far as fewer hummingbirds: a local bander in Texae relayed: hummingbirds migrate, or are seen more at times because of jet streams or of wind movement. And thus why we see them more some years than others.
I have seen more male rubythroat, sub adult male rubythroats this spring than females.
