I was driving and did not get a photo sadly, I wish I had cus its the first time I've ever seen one!! It was soaring about treet top level. I was driving down a road that has woods on either side, recently 10 acres have been sadly cut down for housing so there's thick woods and a large open lot. A chevron and dollar general about half a mile down the rd. And rural neighborhoods about 2 miles down the opposite way. It was flying at tree top level , went right in front of my car so I got a great look at it, then flew into the woods again at about tree top level. It was definitely a bald eagle and had the white head and white tail. About the size of a red tail hawk.
We have dozens of small and large ponds and lakes along highway 315 where I saw it. So plenty of fish. I still am in shock that I just saw a bald eagle.
I watch birds everyday and am a wild life photographer (hobby) so I feel confident that it was a bald eagle and not some other type of eagle or hawk. The white head and tail were very prominent. We have many vultures so I know it was not a vulture either.
Hope this helps!! 1 bald eagle in Fortson/ Columbus GA
