Submitted by Don Davis on behalf of well-known naturalist and birdwatcher Dave, who spotted 4 monarchs in Atikokan, Ontario on May 25th. Dave writes:
First Monarchs (4) seen in Atikokan May 25. Same day our son in Thunder Bay saw 4 and a friend in Fort Frances saw 6. So major movement into NW Ontario on May 25. On the morning of May 26 we had snow flurries!!
Monarchs have continued to be seen since the above, and today at least 2 were frequenting our newly-emerged milkweed (12 in. tall) and may have been laying eggs. Will check tomorrow.

May 25 is at least a week earlier than our previous records.
