Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 06/12/2021

Number: 2

I had just made the comment to my boyfriend that I had only ever seen 1 hummingbird in the 10 years living at our house and three days later I was on our porch and saw one. I immediately ran to the store and bought a feeder. I have seen a male and a female. They aren't sharing the feeder at the same time so I ordered another feeder to hang to hang tomorrow. Hopefully with 2 feeders they will relax a little and not be so territorial. I see them in the morning around 6:00am and then they come again around 5:30pm thru the evening. It was very hot and humid yesterday and after we had a large storm that cooled things down they were very active at the feeder. I am using the recommended sugar water mixture to feed them and they seem to love it. I have red geraniums and purple petunias planted, but I will be planting more hanging plants this weekend.
