Monarch (OTHER Observations)

My little girl and I have a butterfly garden which we use to help lure Monarch and Swallowtail Butterflies to each year. We get pure joy and pleasure from looking for the eggs on the Milkweed for Monarchs, and on our Fennel for the Swallowtail eggs. We will gather a few and put them in our butterfly habitat enclosure to observe over the course of the next few weeks and we get such excitement out of our little egg making it through the final stage of its life and becoming a butterfly. Which we then get to release it into the nice hot warm sunshine and watching it fly free. But this year we have all of our Milkweed and Fennel plants, with no signs of munchy marks or caterpillars. We’ve not witnessed the first sighting of a single Monarch butterfly. Where are they? We do this every year and have for the past 4 years since my daughter was old enough to handle the caterpillars carefully enough. She’s now 7, and always looks forward to this tune of the year, as do I. But we are just baffled that we have no butterflies, no eggs, and no caterpillars. Can you please help us figure this out? Thanks in advance!
