Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/22/2021

Number: 3

I went on vacation for 2 weeks and hoped the monarch eggs on the milkweed in my garden that I'd seen just before I left would've hatched and be in chrysalis form by now. Instead I came back to find a gopher had eaten most of my milkweed but one surviving plant had three caterpillars on it. Only two this morning, so I've taken steps to protect them from birds, lizards, etc. Fingers crossed!
