Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 06/30/2021

Number: 4

4 Monarchs (Three (3) female and one (1) male) were born today in Butterfly netted cage. They were all 100% raised in residential backyard in the “wild” outdoor garden on tropical milkweed and narrow leaf Milkweed, then placed into cage at end of last enstar to save from Tachinid Fly predator and spiders. The male had one wing issue and could fly but not far. Other male Monarchs attached him after release and landed on Salvia. He survived but will probably not live a full life. All females were healthy. Photo shows 3 out of the four.
