5:06pm a sunny, hot 87 degrees with winds 10 MPH from the SSW. The resident male Monarch who has been flying in circles around the house for a week, warding off all competition has finally grabbed a female. I was watching her feed on a milkweed plant when he swooped in around the corner of the porch and grabbed her. They landed on a rock in my front garden and it took about 30 seconds before they were flying into the nearest tree.
