A female ruby-throated hummingbird hovered briefly outside my window with a big beak-full of cattail fluff that she must have pulled from a cattail I have stuck in my windowbox (and which has been torn into by a goldfinch already). I had previously seen her take some fluff a couple days ago and was startled because I had assumed she had nestlings by now. This happened between rain showers. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of her with the fluff, just a picture of the cattail.
