I observed one adult monarch flying into my butterfly garden in Ellsworth, Maine on July 4, 2021, and again on July 5, 2021. On July 6, 2021, I located 2 tiny monarch caterpillars on two separate swamp milkweed plants in my large butterfly garden.

We have 7 swamp milkweed plants located on 3 acres of property, with 2 1/2 acres being open fields. The fields are adjacent to a forested area. We have 2 butterfly gardens, a small one in the front of the house, and a larger one next to the back of our house.
