Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 07/10/2021

Number: 3

Were having a good year for butterfly larva with the relatively low temperatures and high rainfall. My refuge always has butterflies in it and reproduction rates of other species, at least, is high. I just counted at least 40 Gulf Fritillary caterpillars on one sunflower leaf with 2 more adjacent leaves equally as covered. There is lots of nectar available as everything rebounds from our February freeze. Makes me hopeful for a good Fall migration as well as a few more weeks of good butterfly watching.
