Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/10/2021

Number: 1

Driving home from work I briefly glimpsed a Monarch butterfly flitting over a field and landing on a pink clover flower (nectaring I assume).   It disappeared before I could park or get a closer look.   So no photo or gender determination.

The field had been mowed a couple of weeks ago, but new common milkweeds are once again starting to show up – a foot tall at most and no flowers yet.

This was at about 3:05 PM.   At the time we had a partly cloudy sky with a light wind of 5 mph from the WSW.   Other weather conditions were:

  • Temperature:       77°F
  • Dewpoint:           61°F
  • Humidity:           57%
  • Air Pressure:       28.71 inches and dropping slightly
  • Latitude:            40.815°
  • Longitude: :        -77.848°
