While collecting milkweed to feed home-reared larvae, I discovered 3 small common milkweed in the mowed path. I was astounded to find 5, 6 and 8 eggs on the 3 small plants. Of course, they were doomed so I took them home to rear. Losing 19 monarchs to a lawn mower wasn't an option here. Because of the drought and excessive heat for days, the large Common Milkweeds at this park looked pitiful. Apparently the monarch(s) agreed.
