Milkweed Sighted

Date: 07/13/2021

Number: 1

I went to the park across from my home to check on the native plantings that went in about 4 years ago. It is a large area and it is beautiful with lots of monarda, coneflowers, black eyed susans, culver root, grasses and many other plants waiting to bloom. I checked two areas where common milkweed is growing. I don't know if the milkweed was planted or if it established on it's own. The number of plants has grown considerably and is now well established. I did see Monarchs in there feeding on monarda and coneflower. What this area seems to lack are flowers that are timed with the Monarch fall migration. We'll see what blooms in August.
