Hazy with occasional sunshine, 84 F, slight breeze. Monarchs were spotted before noon; have been flying rapidly around yard and garden for five hours. At one point they made contact with each other and spun around each other in the air, "chasing" each other. Hard to photograph due to their continuous movement and speed. Rarely stop to sit on a flower. Garden contains Asclepias speciosa and syriaca, but they do not seem to be ovipositing; possibly males? Way station 9418
