Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/12/2021

Number: 2

On June 12th, seeing a female Monarch butterfly triggered me to look for eggs on my milkweed, even though this is about 4 weeks earlier than I would usually find eggs. To my surprise, I found two 2nd instar caterpillars! I am writing this report on July 17th. Despite looking intensively, I would not find any more eggs or caterpillars in the garden until July 9th - which is about the time of year when I usually find them.
