I found a swallowtail BF , caterpillar on a Rue plant in my garden on Thursday June 19. It was about 1 inch long. I sheltered it in a BF cage for 2 weeks exactly, whereupon it changed into a cocoon on Sunday On July 15. It immerged as a beautiful black swallow tail butterfly, on Thursday July . . I released it today into my zinnia garden and it went straight away to the blooming roses and zinnias. It was starved! even though I have placed zinnias in its cage for food. It feasted not on them. Will post photos when I can.
Does anybody know what is wrong with the swamp milkweed this year?
