Two days ago, my husband lamented that -- while we have a variety of milkweeds growing around our house -- we had not seen any Monarch butterflies, catepillars, or eggs thus far.

Well that changed this morning.   At about 11:17 AM I spotted a female Monarch butterfly (as can be seen in the photo) nectaring from the blooms of one of our swamp milkweeds.   She then landed on another nearby milkweed to lay eggs.

We hope this will be the first of many more Monarch visits this summer.

At the time we had partly cloudy skies with a 6 mph wind from the South.   Other weather conditions were:

  • Temperature:
  • 81°F

  • Dewpoint:
  • 73°F

  • Humidity:
  • 76%

  • Air Pressure:
  • 28.83 inches and steady

  • LATITUDE:

  • LONGITUDE:
