Last year I didn't find any sign of Monarchs in our area including nearby Paonia. The smoke from fires was horrible and I guessed that it might have something to do with that. Then I was reading that people in California were sighting more Monarchs than they had in a long time so I guessed that the smoke was hindering the migration. Could it be that they just stayed in California?
