Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/23/2021

Number: 4

Monarch Waystation #271 reports eggs deposited sometime before or during a milkweed stem inventory conducted between 2:15 to 2:45 pm today. Did not comb every leaf or stem for eggs. Found 1 egg each on 2 separate front bed Tropical Milkweeds, 1 egg on a front bed Purple Milkweed, and 1 on a back bed Swamp Milkweed. Many front milkweeds have been heat stressed this summer and dropped or yellowed some leaves while milkweeds in shaded areas [front and back] kept their leaves plump and green. Some old larval feeding marks remain from spring caterpillars on some plants. Photo shows 1 egg on a front bed Tropical Milkweed that gets some shade daily.
