I have a small patch of showy milkweed (Asclepia, fuzzy green leaf with fragrant pink flowers.) in the front of my house and a small patch on the rear side.

The front patch has no fewer than 12 caterpillars currently, and 1 chrysalis! Butterflies flit in and out all day long. How many? I can't tell. They come in pairs or singles, I have never seen more than two at once. Their presence is nearly constant, if I don't see one within two minutes of looking out across the front, I am very surprised.
