Observed female monarch nectaring on swamp milkweed planted in my backyard. I have been collecting the seeds every fall and planting many seedlings every spring This spring I added Asclepias tuberosa. In August and September 2019 I had observed 12 caterpillars through to their emergence as beautiful adult butterflies. That was a total surprise as I had not seen a single monarch ever since I have lived in New Brunswick which has been many years! Last summer 2020, I did not see any monarchs nor any caterpillars so I'm beside myself with delight to see this one today!
