This location is my backyard. I have many common milkweed plants growing here for at least a month. Right now, they have tiny pods. So far,I have not seen any monarch butterflies in my backyard. On 7/21/21, I reported seeing 1 monarch butterfly flying around swamp milkweed in Topsfield Massachusetts by a marsh, as well as drinking it's nectar, at 2PM. At 4PM, I saw 2 monarch butterflies also in Topsfield on the same sunny day. They were flying over many outdoors blossoms at Nunan's garden center. I believe that a male m. butterfly stays there and meets female m. butterflies. Then, the females fly 1 mile to the Bradley-Palmer State Forest in Topsfield where the marsh is. It would therefore be a good idea to create a m. butterfly highway using swamp milkweed with a butterfly garden close by.
