After an all day rain yesterday, I counted 38 monarchs at 6 of my 18 locations between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM today, and I'm certain that the 4th generation of monarchs are now emerging. I base this on the fact that I had 18 monarchs at these 6 locations on July 23rd that I reported to JN. This is a net gain of 20 monarchs. Of the 38 monarchs, all but 3 had bright orange wings. The other 3 had tattered gray wings. Of interest today, I observed 7 monarchs puddling together in a large mud puddle. Tomorrow, I will count the monarchs at my other 12 locations.
