This one is a female as I could get close enough to see it's open wings. It appeared to be trying to lay eggs but I did not see it actually lay any. Kind of strange behavior based on what we have seen. Curling it's abdomen around and not laying an egg. Another monarch came along and this was me chased it away and came back to the Asclepius curassavica it was on. I have about 60 this and 60 Asclepius perennis in my garden. Very few plants with leaves on the latter.
