Many monarch eggs and caterpillars in various stages on a variety of milkweed. I haven't counted. The buffet includes perennial swamp, butterfly weed, common, whorled and annual tropical. Currently, I'm finding most eggs on new tender growth on either first year plants/seedlings of swamp or swamp that I cut back in late june/early July exhibiting new fresh foliage. Tropical as well. Although one large patch of whorled has had and currently has cats of various stages. Butterfly weed still blooming, has new growth and seed pods also formed in one large/older plant. Swamp is blooming. Watched today a female lay eggs on tropical plants surrounded by towering volunteer sunflowers. She got right down in there maybe they will survive the t-fly. Picture is on tropical I started from seed and is one amongst the sunflowers. Annual here in Iowa.
