Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/28/2021

Number: 1

I didn’t catch a photo, but mama monarch was back today and I collected about 10 eggs. I’m sure there are more.
The wasps have been out in force and it’s a race to get the monarchs before I do. Yesterday, the wasps got about 4 of my baby caterpillars while I was cleaning the cage.
Out of my 75 eggs found a few weeks ago, I now only have 57 caterpilliars,
The next batch are in the 2nd instar stage and I have 8 of those

Some of the eggs from last week hatched. I think a spider found it’s way in into my nursery, because I’m not yet seeing a lot of caterpilliars. I found like 20 eggs or so last week.

I released 4 monarchs yesterday and today. Aside from wasps, Some have died from Black Death and spiders.

Also seen today were an American lady, red Admiral, several common white, and a few skippers.
