Here is a photo of the newly emerged larva on swamp milkweed. I found only two swamp milkweed plants growing near the pond along the path. Both plants were in flower.
Since there are several ponds in this preserve, I'm sure there are more swamp milkweeds in this 292 acres preserve. The plants are not as accessible as are the common milkweed along the wooded path.
