First Monarch sighted on Swamp Milkweed in the 2020 Forest Ave. Meadow Restoration Project in Swampscott, MA. Many milkweed plants were installed in 2020 and and other native plants are being introduced. This meadow is a small grassy area between two parking lots which was typically mowed by the Town. Upon halting the mowing, this space reverted to its wild state with observations of native wild flowers, some non-natives as well as invasive plants, and observations of birds, butterflies, pollinators, mollusks, turtles, insects, toads etc.
