The NW Wind continued today at a more gentler speed of 6-10 mph. From 10 AM to 4 PM, I counted 36 monarchs flying in directional flight heading south down the Lake Huron shoreline at Harrisville State Park. They flew from 2' to 100' above the ground until the Wind turned to the SE at 6 mph at 3:30 PM. The morning started out very sunny, but the PM had mostly clouds. The Temperature topped out at 68F. I counted no monarchs the last 45 minutes of the count. Here are the hour by hour counts:
10 AM to 11 AM = 1
11 AM to 12 PM = 8
12 PM to 1 PM = 7
1 PM to 2 PM = 9
2 PM to 3 PM = 9
3 PM to 4 PM = 2
Total: 36
I have now counted 90 out of 182 monarchs migrating since July 26th.
