What a difference the past week has been as I counted 120 monarchs. Today, at 5 of 18 locations I went to, I counted only 14 monarchs nectaring on goldenrod, assorted asters/daisies, knotweed, Common Tansy, milkweed, and Canada Thistle. This was between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. I believe that the small emergence of 4th generation monarchs have mostly left the area as I reported to JN as migration. A next generation of monarchs should emerge this weekend or so. I don't think this is a 5th generation, because larva have been seen throughout the last month from the late 3rd generation that has expired. The weather was sunny to partly sunny with the Wind SE-6 mph. The Temperature topped out at 76F.
